# Version 1.23

Material Release Notes – v1.23

On February 27, 1996, Pokémon made its debut in Japan, kicking off a global quest to catch ‘em all. This week, Material is rolling out powerful new security evolutions—because cyber threats don’t faint unless you battle them head-on!

## 🆕 New

### 📊 Usage Report – Know Your Party!

See which accounts are synced with Material and how they’re protected. With enhanced detection of sensitive content and identity verification layers, even the sneakiest Team Rocket-style attacks get blocked before they blast off. 🚀

### 🎣 Phishing Detection Rules – No More Magikarp Attacks!

We’ve supercharged our detections against some of the trickiest phishing threats:

Ditto-Like Brand Impersonation: Hulu, Datadog, RingCentral, Microsoft, KnowBe4, Capital One, Google, and more.

Dodging Trap Links: OneDrive, Webflow, and other suspicious redirects—no more walking into wild phishing encounters!

Malicious Attachments – Like a Voltorb Disguised as an Item: Hidden threats in files, embedded JavaScript, and callback phishing attempts.

Trick Room Activated: New manipulations like QR code scams and fake scan-to-email tactics get stopped before they get a chance to attack.

### 🔐 Account Takeover Detection Rules – Stop Team Rocket Before They Strike!

We’ve trained up new rules to catch suspicious email filtering behavior:

Accounts that dump everything into Trash (shady, right?).

Email manipulation rules targeting sensitive terms.

Suspiciously named filters that scream “Imposter!”

Updates & Fixes

### 🚫 Default Remediation Change – Phishing Gets a Hard Counter!

We’re evolving our default phishing rule from Speedbump to Block & Banner. That means stronger defenses, while custom configurations stay exactly how you set them—no forced resets.

### 📑 Phishing Issue Analysis Summary – A Fully Detailed Pokédex Entry for Each Attack!

Every phishing attempt now comes with a full breakdown, including:

* Attack objective & sub-objective
* Who detected it (Material or a sharp-eyed user)
* The sneaky tactics used
* Novel sender/domain insights
* ML-driven threat assessment
* Rules that flagged the message

### 🔍 Search Fixes – Running in Circles? Not Anymore!

Searching now properly resets pagination, and file searches no longer glitch on shared.with and shared.has\_access filters.

That’s it for this patch—stay safe, train hard, and don’t let cyber threats evolve! ⚡🔒

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.material.security/whats-new/previous-releases/1.15-to-1.43/version-1.23.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
